Manufacturing industry represents more than 50% of exports made in Bolivia

The President of Bolivia, Luis Arce, highlighted that -as of May 2022- the manufacturing industry represented more than 50% of exports, which translated into US$2.892 billion of the US$5.716 billion generated by the mobilization of Bolivian products abroad.

Likewise, between January and May 2022, Bolivia registered its largest trade surplus in nine years, for US$1.082 billion. Where the figure reached by shipments abroad exceeded that made by imports, which totaled US$4.634 billion, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

In this context, the president expressed that “we thank the Bolivian people who are committed to work and are an example for those groups that only want to block the growth of the country, imposing their petty interests over collective interests, without looking at the present with responsibility or commitment to the country”.

It should be remembered that, at the beginning of July, the Bolivian Institute of Foreign Trade (IBCE) forecast new records for Bolivian exports for 2022, the foregoing taking into account that Bolivia reached a trade surplus in May.
