Brazilian tourism experiences revival after pandemic

After two years of the covid-19 pandemic, when restrictions were imposed on international travel in various parts of the world, in addition to the temporary closure of several trade sectors, Brazil has resumed receiving flights from other countries on a large scale.

According to the Brazilian Agency for International Tourism Promotion (Embratur), last month registered 3,806 international flight arrivals to the country.

Compared to May, the increase in connectivity was 7.29% and compared to June last year, 355.36%. According to Embratur, the significant increase in connectivity will continue until the beginning of 2023

A total of 84 new flights and 47 additional frequencies are planned until February next year. From January to June this year, 84 more flights went into operation, and 36 additional frequencies were added.

In May, the airline GOL started operating more international flights from Buenos Aires, Miami, and Orlando to Brasilia, with four weekly frequencies. For November, the forecast is to begin the route between the cities of Buenos Aires and Natal, in addition to resuming, by December, all destinations in Argentina that existed in 2019.

United Airlines resumed its Chicago-São Paulo and Houston-Rio de Janeiro flights in the year’s first half. Lufthansa also contributed to the increased connectivity offer with the return of Frankfurt and Munich operations to Rio de Janeiro and daily flights from Amsterdam to Rio de Janeiro.

Eastern Air plans to increase flights from Miami and New York to Belo Horizonte in October.

Other airlines, such as Latam, Delta Air Lines, and Iberia, announced more international flights, connecting cities like São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro to destinations such as Atlanta and New York in the United States, Medellin in Colombia, and Madrid, the Spanish capital.
