Brazil elections 2022: Defense Ministry calls on Electoral Court to publish Armed Forces’ proposals

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazilian Secretary of Defense, General Paulo Sergio Nogueira, in a letter to the president of the TSE, Edson Fachin, called for the wide dissemination of the proposals made by the Armed Forces for the conduct of the elections this year.

Poder360 found out that the Armed Forces chief sent the document to the TSE minister on Thursday (5). Here is the full text.

In the document, the Defense Minister says he tried to meet personally with the TSE president, but according to him, it was “impossible to make the desired meeting happen.”

Paulo Sergio says that the Armed Forces remain committed to the Constitution.

President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) met with Paulo Sérgio twice this week. On Tuesday, he attended the Armed Forces High Command meeting at headquarters in Brasilia, outside of the official schedule.

Soon after, he met with the Minister of the Ministry of Defense for lunch. On Wednesday (4), the Chief Executive attended a joint dinner with officers and the Minister at the Army Transit Hotel.
