Covid vaccine: 40% of Brazilians received a booster dose

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – On April 30, Brazil registered 127 deaths by Covid-19, rising to 663,551 the number of deaths. The moving average was 127 deaths. The recorded number is 26% higher than the calculation two weeks ago, which shows an upward trend for the second day in a row after more than two months. Nine states registered no deaths in the last 24 hours.

The data are from the consortium formed by O GLOBO, Extra, G1, Folha de S.Paulo, UOL, and O Estado de S. Paulo, and gathered information from the state health departments released daily until 8 PM.

The country also registered 14,457 cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, totaling 30,443,597 infected by the coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic. The moving average was 14,535 positive diagnoses. The number is 2% higher than the calculation 15 days ago, which shows a stable trend.

With the advance of vaccination, several states have stopped releasing data on vaccination on weekends and holidays, making the data inaccurate. For this reason, these days, the consortium of press vehicles will start to announce only cases and deaths caused by Covid-19. The dammed numbers will come on the following days, usually Mondays and Tuesdays.

The numbers of cases and deaths were updated in 20 states.

The “7-day moving average” averages the number for the day and the previous six. It is compared with the average of two weeks ago to indicate whether there is an upward trend, a stable trend, or a downward trend in cases or deaths. The calculation is a statistical device to see the movement of the data by drowning out the noise” caused by weekends when the notification of deaths is reduced due to a shortage of personnel on duty.
