Of the top 5 individual YouTubers in the world, 3 are from Latin America

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – These five guys have the most significant 5 YouTube channels as individuals. However, there are even bigger channels, but these are mostly channels of organizations and companies.

PewDiePie – 111 million subscribers

Nr. 1, with 111 million subscribers, is Swede Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg, better known as PewDiePie; he is 32 years old and founded his YouTube channel in 2010.

Kjellberg often comments on games as he plays them and talks about popular memes on “Meme review.” His channel was the first independent person to reach 100 million subscribers in August 2019. To his parents’ chagrin, he even dropped out of business school to devote himself to his videos, working on a hot dog cart on the side.

MrBeast – 94.5 million subscribers

According to Forbes, American Jimmy Donaldson – or MrBeast – was the second Youtuber to earn the most money on the platform in 2020: around US$24 million.

He started in 2012, at the age of 13, but went viral only in 2017. Today, at 23, he employs around 30 people. His videos deal with a wide variety of situations ranging from fundraising millions of dollars to unusual experiments where he freezes himself in a block of ice or spins a thousand times on a Ferris wheel.

JuegaGerman – 45.5 million subscribers

The biggest Youtuber in Latin America, Chilean Germán Garmendia, is a musician, comedian, and writer. He frequently publishes videos with humorous monologues. Last December, the Chilean press reported that Garmendia earned around US$210,000 a month and had a net worth of US$5.5 million. He is currently 32 years old.

Fernanfloo – 44.8 million subscribers

At 28 years old, Luis Fernando Flores Alvaraddo is the most popular Youtuber in El Salvador. He started talking about games in 2011, and it is his main topic until today.

In 2015, he launched his own online game, which reached the 2 million downloads mark within a week. His puppies, Curly and Party, often appear in his videos. In 2020, he declared himself asexual, someone who has no interest in any sexual activity.

Felipe Neto – 44 million subscribers

With 44 million subscribers, Felipe Neto (Felipe Neto Rodrigues Vieira) from Rio de Janeiro is a Brazilian manager, vlogger, actor, comedy performer and writer, and the first Brazilian to make it into the top 5 individual YouTubers; Whinderson Nunes follows shortly after with 43.7 million subscribers.

Felipe is the founder of Paramaker, a business network inside of YouTube, which owns channels like Parafernalha and IGN Brasil Network, managing approximately 5,000 channels, as an effort to professionalize the online video market in Brazil.
