New analytical certificate exclusive for Brazil streamlines Argentine wine exports

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Argentine Agency reported that according to the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Supply’s (MAPA) Normative Instruction 67/2018, wine imports must enter Brazil accompanied by the Certificate of Analysis, Certificate of Origin, and, if applicable, Certificate of Typicity, all issued by the competent authority of the country of origin.

As for the Certificate of Analysis, although there is no model specifically adopted by MAPA, it requires the Batch Number and Brand to be included. As of January 1, 2022, all analyses processed to Brazil must include this information to comply with this requirement. As the Certificates of Analysis are processed for volumes that may cover more than one consignment, thus varying the lots and brands, many requests for copies of Certificates of Analysis are generated by exporters.

The president of the INV, Martín Hinojosa, commented that “due to this situation we took steps before the MAPA to overcome these problems in the exports of our wines to Brazil. As a result of these steps, we agreed with the Ministry to issue a new Certificate of Analysis, exclusively for Brazil, which will be generated and issued automatically together with the Certificates of Origin and Typicality at the time of approval of the Export” The certificate will be issued for the volume of the consignment to be exported, completing the fields Batch and Brand, with information declared in the Export.

Hinojosa announced that “the analytical determinations and values will be taken from the corresponding Export Certificate of Analysis; therefore, for exports to be processed as of February 10, 2022, it will not be necessary to declare brands and lots in the Export Analysis, nor request signed copies of them. The Certificate of Analysis to be submitted to MAPA will be under the new format, not necessary to submit the Export Analysis, which may be processed for the volume that the exporter deems appropriate.”

“For exports that have been processed before February 10, 2022, they will be able to present the Export Analysis they have since the MAPA has informed that there will be no inconveniences during the period in which both documents could be presented: the Export Analysis Certificate for the cases of exports already in process, or the new Certificate of Analysis for Brazil automatically generated for new exports” explained Hinojosa.
