RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The United States issued a recommendation not to travel to Paraguay due to Covid-19 and insecurity.
The travel agency sector believes that the recommendation of the United States not to travel to Paraguay due to CovidD-19 and insecurity affects the country’s image, which will be difficult to recover later on.
In local media, Carlos Cardozo, who presides the Paraguayan Association of Travel Agencies and Tourism Companies, ASATUR, has shown the deep concern of the sector after the warning made by the US authorities not to travel to Paraguay.
For Cardozo, “the communiqué surprised us.” We were already expecting it from Covid, but what was added was the suggestion due to the insecurity issue.
Although there are not many Americans who travel for tourism in Paraguay, this warning affects the country’s image, so that, for tourism, these situations are too sensitive.
With this alert from the United States due to the insecurity, a new panorama is opened. “Probably urgent meetings are required, to win back that market that doubts whether or not to come to our country”, emphasized Cardozo.
