Colombia and Paraguay are countries with the best business climate in Latin America, says Brazil’s Vargas Foundation

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Colombia, and Paraguay remained the countries with the best business climate in the region in 2021, improving their rating when the regional average fell due to the impact of the Covid 19 pandemic.

According to the Latin American Economic Survey conducted by the Brazilian Economic Institute of the Getulio Vargas Foundation, Colombia stood out with a score of 137.6 on the economic climate indicator, closely followed by Paraguay with 133.3, while the region averaged 80.6.

Countries such as Brazil and Argentina suffered a significant drop in their scores, ending with 63.4 and 37.2 points, respectively.

Uruguay, Ecuador, and Bolivia stood out among the countries that performed best, improving their scores, ending the year with 119.7 points, 117.5 points, and 87.3 points, respectively.

Countries that saw their scores drop more sharply include Brazil, which fell from 118.5 to 63.4 points between the third and fourth quarters, Chile, which dropped from 104.4 to 80.1 points; and Argentina, which plummeted to 37.2 points in the same period.
