Unemployment in Brazil in the three months to November falls to 11.6% -IBGE

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The unemployment rate in Brazil was 11.6% in the quarter that ended in November. According to data from the Continuous National Household Sample Survey (Continuous Pnad), released Friday morning, November 28, by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).

The result was in line with the median of 11.6% of analyst estimates obtained by Projeções Broadcast, ranging from 11.4% to 12.0%.

In the same period of 2020, the unemployment rate, as measured by the continuous national household sample, was 14.4%. In the quarter ending in October, the job openings rate was 12.1%.

The average real income of a worker in the quarter ended last November was R$2,444.00. The result represents a decrease of 11.4% compared to the previous year’s same period.

Real customary income paid to employed persons totaled R$277 billion in the quarter ending November, down 2.6% from the same period last year.
