Brazilian airports registered 37.8 million passengers in 2021

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – From May 2021, after overcoming the second wave of COVID-19, Brazil’s skies began a growth streak that accelerated from August with a substantial increase in the supply of flights by companies operating in the country. Thus, Brazil ended with a recovery of 85% of the domestic operation in 2019.

At the close of the year, the numbers make it possible to see more clearly the volume of that increase in the final reports that are beginning to be published. In this case, that of Infraero, the state-owned airport services company.

According to Infraero, in 2021, 37,811,707 passengers passed through its network of 37 terminals throughout the country, taking regular commercial flights, which meant an increase of 38% compared to 2020, the year of greatest isolation and restrictions, when 27,856,717 people embarked and disembarked.

And, of course, this evolution was accompanied by the increase in supply mentioned above. According to the company, take-offs and landings were 799,056, which means 26% more than in the previous year, when 633,896 operations were registered.
