Brazil industrial production fell in most of the locations surveyed by IBGE in November

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazilian industrial production fell in eight of the 15 locations surveyed in November, compared to October, according to data from the Regional Monthly Industrial Survey (PIM Regional), released by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).

In relation to November 2020, there was a decline in ten of the 15 surveyed locations. Considering the accumulated result in 12 months, there were positive rates in 10 of the 15 surveyed locations.

The national production fell 0.2% in November compared to October, as already reported by IBGE on January 6. Today, the institute details the result by the different locations tracked by the survey.

From October to November, the negative highlights were the declines observed in Amazonas (-3.5%), Ceará (-2.5%), and Rio de Janeiro (-2.2%), with the Northeast (-1.8%), Bahia (-1.7%), Espírito Santo (-0.9%), Paraná (-0.7%), and Pernambuco (-0.3%) following.

The biggest increases, in this comparison, were in Mato Grosso (14.6%), Santa Catarina (5.0%) and Pará (3.5%), with Rio Grande do Sul (1.2%), São Paulo (1.0%), Minas Gerais (0.8%) and Goiás (0.1%) following.

When compared to November 2020, national industrial production fell 4.4%. Among the negative highlights in this comparison are the declines observed in Bahia (-15.7%), Amazonas (-13.0%), Ceará (-11.1%), and the Northeast Region (-10.5%).

On the other hand, in this same comparison with November 2020, there were significant increases. Mato Grosso, with a 28.0% expansion, showed the highest growth in November 2021, driven in large part by the advance observed in food products.

Espírito Santo (4.7%), Rio de Janeiro (4.6%), Pará (2.0%) and Rio Grande do Sul (1.4%) showed the other positive rates this month, the institute further informed, in this comparison.

Industrial production in São Paulo, the country’s largest industrial park, rose 1% in November, compared to October.

In relation to November 2020, São Paulo’s industrial production fell by 6.9%, accumulating highs of 6.2% in the year and 6.6% in 12 months.
