Chile: 60% feel optimistic about the country’s economic situation this year -Cadem

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Two months after Gabriel Boric‘s arrival to La Moneda, 46% believe he will do well. According to the same survey, it is less than the perspective held for Piñera and Bachelet.

Looking at what they expect for this year, 60% of citizens are optimistic about the country’s economic situation, according to the weekly Cadem survey conducted between January 5 and 7.

In the list of perspectives, 80% are optimistic about what 2022 will be like for themselves and their families, and 68% are optimistic about what it will be like for companies.

Regarding the world and the country’s political situation, 57% and 54% are optimistic, respectively.

Specifically regarding the government’s performance of President-elect Gabriel Boric, once he is installed in Lo Moneda on March 11, 46% of those living in Chile believe that it will do well or very well. It is nine points less than what was expected in December.

Compared to the expectations that were handled before the installation of Piñera and Bachelet (in the same previous month), it is the lowest record. According to Cadem, in January 2018, 58% believed that Piñera would do well, while in the same month of 2014 it was 51% for Bachelet.

In a context in which President Sebastián Piñera’s approval is at 28%.
