Amid 13th salary payment, Brazil’s PIX hits new daily transaction record

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – PIX, the instant payment system developed by Brazil’s Central Bank, hit a new daily transaction record on Monday, December 20, amid the payment of the second installment of the 13th salary. There were 51.9 million transfers and payments.

According to the Central Bank, the adoption of the Brazilian tool in its first year of existence, completed on November 16, was the fastest in the world.

The previous record of PIX instant payment system had been on December 10, with 50.3 million transactions. (photo internet reproduction)

By the end of November, registered keys exceeded 360 million and over 100 million people had paid or received at least one PIX transaction.

Last month, there were 1.2 billion transactions, involving a total volume of over R$620 (US$108) billion.
