RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – “The word Ciao in Italian is a two-way greeting: it can be used both to say hello and goodbye. Therefore, Fiat considered that there would be no better way to name the special farewell series of the Fiat Uno, whose production ends after 37 years of history,” reads the company’s statement.
Manufactured uninterruptedly since August 1984 at the Betim Automotive Complex in Minas Gerais, the Fiat Uno has totaled 4,379,356 million units produced, the brand said.
“Throughout its 37 years on the market, the Uno has become an icon and marked the lives of millions of Brazilians. For everything it represents for the brand and for the history of the automotive industry, its farewell should be appropriate, but in an atmosphere of celebration,” said the Brand Fiat South America and Brazil Commercial Operations director Herlander Zola.
The director recalls that the model “was Fiat’s best-selling vehicle in South America, in addition to being a pioneer in many aspects during its whole trajectory.”
The Fiat Uno Ciao will be numbered and will feature an exclusive layout, with all units painted Silverstone Gray with a black top, external mirrors, and rear spoiler.
“The doors’ handles are the color of the vehicle and feature a lateral sticker with the name Uno Ciao accompanied by the phrase ‘La Storia di uma Leggenda’ (the story of a legend). The striking look is complemented by unique 14-inch dark alloy wheels and the UNO logo in Italian colors to the left of the trunk lid,” the company adds.
The numbered production plate will be placed inside the dashboard in the car, which will have a “darker pattern and a bicolor finish in light tones on the doors and on the central strip that crosses the dashboard.”
The model also features “air conditioning, power steering, LCD display instrument panel, on-board computer, sound system with Bluetooth radio and USB input, double airbag, one-touch anti-smashing front windows and locks, universal hook for child seat attachment (Isofix), rear window wiper, washer and defroster, ABS brakes with EBD, three-point seatbelt and headrest for all occupants, split and folding rear seats.”
