RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Itapemirim Transportes Aéreos on Friday announced that it has temporarily suspended its operations in Brazil. In the statement, the company said the decision was taken to undergo internal restructuring.

The decision caused outrage among the company’s passengers: on Friday, flights were canceled when the aircraft was preparing for takeoff.

At the Guarulhos airport (SP), about 100 company customers were unable to proceed with their trips.

The company reported that passengers with trips scheduled for the coming days should contact the company’s e-mail: [email protected]. However, Viação Itapemirim’s bus operations remain normal.

In the statement, the company also said that the Brazilian Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) had been notified.

“ITA regrets the inconvenience caused and states that it will continue to provide full assistance to affected passengers, as provided for in ANAC Resolution 400,” the announcement reads.
