Unesco congratulates Peru for its work in the protection and preservation of Machu Picchu

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Ernesto Fernandez Polcuch, representative of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) in Peru, congratulated and highlighted the country's work doing regarding the protection and preservation of Machu Picchu in Cusco.

Fernandez visited the site museum "Manuel Chavez Ballon," located in the lower part of the Inca, llaqta, to verify the work being done by the authorities in this protected natural area. In 1983, the Inca citadel was declared Cultural Patrimony of Humanity, and then, in 2007, it was added to the list of the seven wonders of the world.
