Brazil’s Bolsonaro spites Moro: “This one can’t handle 10 seconds of debate”

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) on Monday, December 6, said that ex-Minister of Justice Sergio Moro (Podemos) tried to copy his campaign slogan “Brazil above everything, God above all.”

“To try to copy my ‘Brazil above everything, God above all’, he used ‘the people above all’. This one can’t handle 10 seconds of debate,” Bolsonaro laughingly declared while talking to supporters at the Alvorada Palace.

The President also criticized the ex-judge for his statements against arming the population. Throughout his administration, Bolsonaro has relaxed the possession and carrying of weapons. In his autobiography, entitled “Contra o Sistema da Corrupção” (Against the Corruption System), released last week, Sergio Moro said he advocated the laws, but opposed the increase in the number of guns each person may own.

“Criminals have guns. Why this… [former president] Lula said he will recall guns. Moro also said that he could be stricter… He could have pushed me more during the issue of his gun ordinances. How did this guy accept to work with me knowing that I am pro-guns? He should have some character, right? He just had to say: ‘I’m not interested in working because I’m a leftist,'” the President continued.
