59% of Uruguayans approve administration of President Lacalle Pou

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – 59% of Uruguayans approve the administration of the country’s president, the center-right Luis Lacalle Pou, according to the last survey elaborated by the researcher Cifra, which was published Thursday (11) on its web page.

The document adds that the proportion is 3 points higher than the one obtained by the president in September and shows a recovery of a “very gradual fall” observed since the beginning of this year.

“The population that disapproves of the administration is today one third, and that minority is increasing, also very slowly since the moment Lacalle Pou took office, in March 2020”, adds the study.

In addition, Cifra pointed out that the Covid-19 pandemic has been “concentrating the focus” of the government’s actions, at least, until the middle of this year.

In this sense, he emphasized that this reason for the population “was one of its main concerns” and the government “tended to be evaluated”, above all, by how the handling of the crisis was perceived.

“Forty-four percent think that the government is handling it very well and another 43% that it is handling it well”, details the study regarding the Uruguayan Government’s handling of the pandemic.

Nine percent said “badly” while 4 percent said, “very badly”.

The pollster assured that, after almost 20 months of having taken office, on March 1, 2020, Lacalle Pou “continues to be well evaluated” by the majority of the population, maintaining the approval of almost 6 out of 10 Uruguayans.

The survey was carried out between October 28 and November 7 on a sample of 802 cases, and its maximum margin of error is 3.1 points within a 95% confidence level.
