Prominent wine guide chooses the best red wine in Chile

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Viña Morandé had essential participation in the most recent version of the Descorchados Guide. In it, House of Morandé achieved 98 points and was chosen Best Red Wine of Chile, Best Red Blend, and Best Wine of Maipo Andes.

This critical recognition consolidates House of Morandé -an icon of the winery- as a worldwide reference and one of Chile’s most important wines.

In its 2019 vintage, the wine is made from 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Cabernet Franc and 5% Carignan from the San Bernardo vineyard in the Maipo Valley, recognized worldwide for its high-end wines, especially Cabernet Sauvignon.

In addition, the winery has invested heavily in innovation and sustainability, for example, using biofilters to transform wastewater and agro-industrial waste to treat industrial liquid waste (ILW) sustainably.

It also subscribed very early to the Sustainability Code promoted by Vinos de Chile, a trade association that brings together wine producers in Chile.

Other wines from the Viña Morandé portfolio that also stood out in Descorchados were:
– Gran Reserva 2020 Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, 92 points.
– Estate Reserve 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, 90 points and Best Price-Quality Ratio.
– Morandé Gran Reserva Pinot Noir 2020, 90 points.

For the preparation of the Descorchados Guide 2022, its author, the prominent journalist Patricio Tapia, tasted more than 1,800 wines from north to south, seeking to represent the full diversity of Chile, consolidating it as the most respected wine publication in Chile and South America.
