RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Fernando de Noronha, one of Brazil’s most popular tourist destinations, will require proof of full vaccination to be presented upon entering the island from October 1. People who have only had the first vaccine dose will need to submit a negative Covid-19 test performed 48 hours before boarding.
Proof of vaccination is available through the Conecte SUS Cidadão, Conecta Recife, or Passe Verde apps.
The island now has its adult population fully vaccinated with the 2 doses and registered no Covid-19 case this month for the 5th time.
The Archipelago’s general administrator Guilherme Rocha believes that the measure to be implemented in October is a path towards even greater flexibility in Noronha, such as the confirmation of New Year’s Eve celebrations.
The current protocol requires only the RT-PCR test performed 48 hours before the trip for people who have never had Covid-19. People who have been infected by the virus need to present the same test, but with more days in advance or the serology test performed at most 90 days before the trip.
