Covid-19: Germany to dispense with quarantine for tourists from Brazil vaccinated with Coronavac

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – As of Sunday (19), entry into Germany will be facilitated for all travelers departing from Brazil, no longer only for those vaccinated against Covid-19 with immunizers approved by the European Union (Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Moderna, and Janssen).

Passengers immunized with Coronavac (or another drug, taken in another country) or who have not yet completed the vaccination will be able to waive quarantine by presenting a negative test for coronavirus or proof that they had the disease and recovered.

The changes were announced on Friday (17). Brazil, India, and South Africa are among the 14 countries no longer considered high-risk by the German government.

In August, Germany removed the country from those with a high circulation of variants of concern. Still, quarantine was only waived for those fully vaccinated with the drugs approved by the European Union.

Portugal, France, Switzerland, Croatia, and Spain are other European countries that accept travelers departing from Brazil, provided they are fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

France restricts complete vaccination to immunizers approved by the European Union, while in Switzerland, Croatia, and Spain, Coronavac is also accepted. It is also possible to enter without quarantine upon presentation of a negative coronavirus test in all five.

The European Commission maintains a website with updated information about the requirements for travelers in the 27 member countries of the bloc and the four non-EU members of the Schengen zone (Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, and Liechtenstein).
