Military aircraft crashes in area near Brazil’s Campo Grande airport

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – At least three people who were in the aircraft are being rescued by a H-60 Black Hawk helicopter from the Pelican Squadron and the Fire Department is providing assistance.

A military aircraft crashed early Monday afternoon, September 13, in a private area in the Indubrasil area of Campo Grande (Mato Grosso do Sul). There is still no information on what could have caused the crash.

According to the first information gathered, the three people in the aircraft were rescued alive with the help of a FAB helicopter and the Fire Department’s Rescue and Advanced Support Unit (URSA).

The pilot ejected before the aircraft hit the ground in the Indubrasil wooded region, in Campo Grande.

The aircraft would have exploded as soon as it hit the ground, causing a large fire in a private area in the vicinity of BR-262.
