Plane carrying nearly 300 kg of cocaine left Bolivia and crashed in Brazil’s Mato Grosso

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – A plane that left Bolivia carrying almost 300 kg of drugs crashed in Brasnorte, in northern Mato Grosso state, on Tuesday night, September 7. The pilot tried to escape, but was located and arrested during the night.

According to the police, the vehicle had no flight plan and entered Brazilian airspace through the border with Bolivia, but was intercepted by the Brazilian Air Force (FAB).

The pilot then tried to make a forced landing in an open field in the municipality, but lost control and crashed. The Federal Police said that the suspect tried to flee, but was found and arrested some time later. There is no information on his health condition.

All the seized material was taken to the Federal Police base in Cuiabá. The police said that the search will continue to try to locate other members of an alleged criminal organization involved in drug trafficking between Brazil/Bolivia.
