Protests in Brazil: Bolsonarist demonstrators stage acts in 21 states and Federal District

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Bolsonarist demonstrators, held acts in 22 units of the Federation. The main ones were in Brasilia, attended by President Jair Bolsonaro, and in São Paulo, where he was present during the afternoon of September 7, Brazil’s Independence Day.

The country is experiencing strong political tension and instability between institutions. Activists in favor of the president advocate the “closing of the Supreme Court and Congress”.

In Ceará state, at least four cities registered acts of support for the president. In Fortaleza, deputies from Ceará took to the streets during the morning.

In Rio de Janeiro, a banner read: “President, put all these vagabonds in jail, starting with the Supreme Court!” Another demanded the “Toga’s CPI”.

The central point of the demonstrations in Rio de Janeiro, Copacabana Beach, has been taken over by demonstrators since early this morning. A crane lifted a flag about 12 meters above  Atlantica Avenue, with sound cars between posts 5 and 4 of Copacabana Beach.

MOTORCADE

Bolsonarist protesters formed a line more than five kilometers long in front of the Goiânia Autódromo [race track], Goiás state, on motorcycles, cars, and pickup trucks. There, the protest played the funk “Baile de Favela” in a Bolsonarist version.

In Salvador, demonstrators concentrated at Farol da Barra, one of the main tourist attractions in Bahia.

Thousands of supporters of Jair Bolsonaro were already spreading out on Avenida Paulista in São Paulo on Tuesday morning, the September 7 holiday. The president was expected to speak at the demonstration around 3 PM.
