It’s bronze! In Judo, Daniel Cargnin wins the second Olympic medal for Brazil

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – After losing to a Japanese in the semifinal final, Daniel Cargnin applied a Wasari on the Israeli Shmailov and captured another medal for Brazil at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

The Brazilian started very well, taking the fight to his opponent and looking for the medal. Shmailov interrupted the fight at every moment and conceded the first penalty.

A minute before the end of the fight Cargnin applied a wasari, won a point, and took the lead.

After the Brazilian’s hit, the Israeli went high and tried all means to equalize the fight. So much so that Daniel was unintentionally hit on the nose and had to be treated to stop the bleeding.

With one minute to go, the tension rose in the Brazilian delegation. After a blow on the arm of the opponent, the VAR was called to analyze a possible violation of the rules, which was not committed.

The Brazilian remained on the defensive, so much so that he even conceded a penalty that was meaningless. Very emotional, in his post-match interview, Daniel Cargnin won the second Brazilian medal at the Games.
