RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The State of São Paulo’s Secretary of Finance Henrique Meirelles said on Wednesday, July 21, that the advance of vaccination against Covid-19 is improving the outlook for economic growth in his state.
On Twitter, the secretary celebrated the start of vaccination of adults in the 30s age range and said it is key to the resumption of economic activity and the consequent generation of new jobs in the state accounting for the largest slice of Brazil’s GDP.
The São Paulo government had estimated a 6% increase in the state’s GDP this year, but due to the advance of vaccination it has revised its forecasts to 7% a year, which could reach 7.8%, according to Meirelles’ calculations.
“Since vaccination has been accelerated, growth projections for São Paulo have increased,” he celebrated on social networks.
