Covid-19: new Pfizer vaccine batch lands in Brazil (June 22)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – This week’s first batch with Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines against Covid-19 landed in Viracopos Airport, Campinas (SP), on Tuesday night, June 22, with 528,840 doses.

Two more vaccine batches will be sent to the Ministry of Health later this week, according to Pfizer’s forecast, totaling 2.4 million doses in the period.

The new batches will arrive on June 24 and 27 also in Viracopos, with 936,000 doses each batch. According to Pfizer’s report, together with the previous batches, more than 13 million doses will have been delivered until the end of this week.

According to the pharmaceutical company, this week’s deliveries are part of the agreement signed in March, which stipulated the delivery of 100 million vaccines to Brazil until the end of the third quarter this year.

In May, the Ministry of Health and the laboratory signed a second contract that guaranteed another 100 million doses for the country, expected to be delivered by December 2021, totaling 200 million doses.
