São Paulo accelerates Covid vaccination plan and promises to immunize entire adult population by September

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The São Paulo government has accelerated the vaccination schedule against Covid-19 by 30 days and promised to immunize the entire adult population of the state by the end of September.

The announcement was made by Governor João Doria (PSDB) during a press conference early Sunday afternoon (13).

The São Paulo government did not explain what allowed the acceleration of the schedule, stating only that the change takes into account the next shipments of vaccine doses that the state will receive from the Ministry of Health: CoronaVac, Pfizer, AstraZeneca, and Janssen.

“At this point, this is the biggest breakthrough in our entire campaign. Nearly 7.5 million people are vaccinated in one month in the state of São Paulo. The push is planned based on vaccine shipments from the National Immunization Program,” said State Immunization Program Coordinator Regiane de Paula.

“We already have the Butantan vaccine here today in the territory, the vaccine from Fiocruz and we have the vaccine from Pfizer. We are waiting for Janssen to arrive. We will have 4 vaccines starting tomorrow,” Regiane added.

40 to 42 years old: 30/06 to 14/07
