Brazil capable of vaccinating 2.4 million daily – Health Minister

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Minister of Health Marcelo Queiroga on Friday, June 11, praised the vaccination capacity of the SUS (National Health System) and the National Immunization Plan (PNI) in an event in São Paulo.

O médico cardiologista Marcelo Queiroga, indicado para ser o novo ministro da Saúde, e o atual ministro da Saúde, Eduardo Pazuello, falam à imprensa no Ministério da Saúde.

“We have 630 million vaccines contracted and we are assured they will be administered in the National Immunization Plan, an asset of Brazilians. Our 38,000 vaccination rooms are capable of immunizing up to 2.4 million Brazilians every day, which makes our program a pride for Brazilians and an example to the world,” he declared during the inauguration of beds in the Guarapiranga Municipal Hospital, in São Paulo.

This was Queiroga’s first statement after President Jair Bolsonaro said he would publish an opinion to dispense with the use of masks for people who have already been vaccinated or contracted Covid-19 and recovered. He did not address the subject.

The Minister said that vaccines are the hope to end the pandemic and that, with 200 million doses contracted until the end of 2021, Brazil is the country that has acquired the second most doses from Pfizer.

“With Pfizer, by September we will have 100 million doses, and from September to December, another 100 million, which makes Brazil the country to have contracted the second-most doses of this vaccine, the efficacy of which is recognized by international authorities,” he declared.
