Brazilian startup Bebida na Porta hits 100,000 orders

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Founded in 2018, the brand operating in São Paulo and in the nearby “ABC” suburbs delivered 100,000 orders in 2020 and invoiced R$5 million (US$987,000). Its goal is to double the business this year.

Delivery has grown like never before over last year, and with it the demand for alcoholic beverages through specialized apps.

Bebida na Porta (Doorstep Drinks), a startup founded only 3 years ago by entrepreneur Jessica Gordon, reached the mark of 100,000 orders delivered in 2020, closing last year with R$5 million in revenue.

One of its differentials is that the brand, which currently operates in the city’s upscale Pinheiros and Mooca neighborhoods and the industrial ABC suburbs of São Paulo, delivers all kinds of drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic. In April, 78% of sales were of alcoholic beverages, especially beer and wine.

In the first quarter this year alone, Bebida na Porta invoiced R$3 million. Consequently, the projection for 2021 is to more than double last year’s sales, reaching R$12 million.

Currently, there are 4 “dark” stores in operation, and 2 more should be opened by December. “Brazilians are used to ordering drinks in emergency situations and paying very high prices for them. Bebida na Porta not only offers urgent orders at supermarket prices, but also the planning of purchases in place of the weekly or monthly market, allowing customers to avert lines and heavy bags,” says Jessica Gordon, the brand’s CEO.

With a 60% recurring customer rate (those who place more than one order a month), the company delivers mainly through iFood and Zé Delivery, but the focus is on bringing consumption to the Bebida na Porta app, which now boasts 2,000 recurring customers.

“2021 will be a year of investment in our app. Unlike other services, we deliver hundreds of drinks of various types and brands, which attracts customers,” says Gordon.
