Claro offers best cell phone experience in Brazil, ahead of Vivo and TIM – report

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – According to the National Telecommunications Agency, Brazilians are more pleased with national mobile phone services. In fact, operators have been adapting to a new market trend, offering exclusive benefits such as the inclusion of streaming apps and social media in internet packages to attract customers.

The implementation of 5G is expected to revolutionize this scenario even further, and the main Brazilian telecom operators are preparing to stand out in this market. While this does not occur, connectivity and reliable availability have been these companies’ focus.

According to a report by Tutela Technologies, Claro offered the best user experience in the past six months, closely followed by Vivo and, in third place, TIM.

The report assessed over 29 million speed and latency tests, conducted on real users’ smartphones from national mobile operators in Common Coverage Areas, between November 2020 and April 2021.

According to the results, Claro offered the best mobile experience in Brazil. Its performance was rated as “Consistent and Excellent Quality” in 70.1% of tests, showing that the carrier offers a good enough network experience for HD video streaming, HD video calling, or mobile gaming more often than any other network.

Claro also boasted the fastest download and upload speeds in Brazil, with 18.3 Mbps and 8.83 Mbps, respectively, and narrowly won for the best latency, a measure of a network’s responsiveness.

Vivo proved to be a strong competitor to Claro, reaching the top of the ranking in two categories: the operator statistically tied with Claro in the first place for the highest Core Consistent Quality in Brazil, with over 85%.

In addition, Vivo showed the highest relative area coverage across Brazil for combined 5G/4G coverage and total coverage.

Tutela’s report also pointed out that TIM subscribers spend more time on a 4G network than customers of any other operator in Brazil. Moreover, although Vivo has the best 5G/4G coverage in the country, TIM is only 76 points behind.
