Agricultural machinery sales in Brazil up 22.26% in 1st quarter – FENABRAVE

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – A total of 10,855 tractors and agricultural machines were sold in the first quarter of the year, up 22.26% compared to the same period in 2020, driven by the favorable performance of commodities in Brazil, said on Tuesday the National Federation of Automotive Vehicles Distribution (FENABRAVE).

In March alone, 4,164 of such vehicles were sold, an increase of 15.47% compared to the preceding month. Compared to March last year, growth stood at 11.7%, according to the data.

“The scenario remains positive for agribusiness and, considering the positive performance of commodities, demand for tractors and agricultural machinery remains strong,” said Alarico Assumpção Júnior, the federation’s president, in a statement.

Brazilian agribusiness exports reached total sales of US$11.57 billion in March, a record for a month that had never surpassed the US$10 billion mark since official records began in 1997, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.

FENABRAVE also pointed out that as tractors and agricultural machines are not registered, data for these vehicles are delayed by a month, as they depend on a survey conducted with manufacturers.

For other types of vehicles, the organization’s data were measured up to April.
