RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The serious picture of overcrowding in the ICUs in Rio de Janeiro by Covid-19 has led the city’s scientific committee to recommend the total closure of all non-essential activities. The panorama was presented in a meeting on Monday morning, March 22nd.
Now, it will be up to Eduardo Paes to decide what to do from the prognosis released by experts. City Hall contacts believe that the mayor should accept the recommendation.
In recent days, Paes had already been showing willing to take more drastic measures in order to reduce the circulation in the city – and consequently try to reduce the spread of the virus.
The announcement of what will be decided from the specialists’ meeting will be made at a press conference later this Monday.
