Covid-19: Brazilians held up in Portugal return to Brazil on March 10th

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Another group of Brazilians who have been held up in Portugal because of the novel coronavirus pandemic will return to Brazil next Tuesday, March 9th. An extraordinary TAP Air Portugal commercial flight will fly the Lisbon-São Paulo route. The flight is scheduled to take off at 10 AM, Brasília time.

Scheduled flights between the two countries were suspended on January 27th by the Portuguese government due to the virus variant detected in Amazonas. The measure prevented many Brazilians from returning.

On February 26th, 271 Brazilian citizens and 28 foreigners living in Brazil returned on the first authorized private flight.

As was the case in February, those interested should contact TAP directly to book or rebook airline tickets.

Travel requirements have not changed. A negative covid-19 test, performed 72 hours before boarding, and a 14-day quarantine period in Portugal are required.

Passengers must also fill out a ANVISA  statement form to be allowed entry into Brazil. Only repatriation flights of Portuguese citizens or residents in the country are allowed.

The Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Brazilian embassy and the consulates-general in Portugal, said it will continue to provide full assistance to Brazilians.
