RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – In two weeks since the start of the vaccination process, Brazil has already exceeded the threshold of two million people immunized. Compared to other world nations, the number is quite significant and places the country in eighth place in absolute numbers of doses distributed. By 6 PM on Monday, February 1st, Brazil had already vaccinated 2,203,937 people.
The United States has vaccinated the most to date, having achieved over 31 million people immunized against Covid-19. China and the United Kingdom complete the top of the list.
If in absolute numbers Brazil is in good standing, in the calculation per 100 inhabitants – which allows a fair comparison between nations to determine who has reached the largest portion of the population – the situation is still poor. With over 200 million inhabitants, the country ranks 42nd on the list: it has only vaccinated one in every 100 people. The leader is Israel, with 56 immunized per 100 inhabitants.
