RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – According to the 2020 Social Progress Index, Brazil is the 61st best country in the world in which to live, behind other South American countries Chile (34th), Uruguay (38th), Argentina (41st) and Peru (59th).
The index developed by Social Progress Imperative, a U.S. non-profit organization, and released by Deloitte, points out that Brazil dropped 0.84 points in a 163-country ranking.
Brazil scores low in the Education indicators, which were worse ranked than last year, followed by personal security, where extermination and torture policies were in evidence in the ranking. Social inclusion was also one of the points that lowered the country’s score.
At a point where Brazil stood out, the fight against hunger was one of the only topics where the country performed successfully.
This indicator ranks the social performance of 163 countries over seven years (2014-2020), analyzing 50 relative indicators, such as Nutrition, Housing, Security, Education, Health, Human Rights and Inclusion.
