In terms of confirmed cases, 6,880,595 Brazilians have been or are infected with the novel coronavirus since the start of the pandemic, with 44,282 of these confirmed on Saturday. The rolling average in the past seven days stood at 43,414 new daily diagnoses. This represents a +25% variation compared to the cases registered in two weeks, which points to an upward trend in diagnoses too.

The rolling average of cases is the highest since August 17th, when an average of 43,846 new cases was recorded. The highest average Brazil has registered since the start of the pandemic was of 46,393 daily cases on July 27th.

Seventeen states and the Federal District registered an increase in the rolling average of deaths: PR, RS, SC, ES, MG, SP, DF, MS, MT, AC, AP, RR, TO, BA, PB, PE, PI and RN.

Total deaths: 181,143
Deaths recorded in 24 hours: 690
Average of new deaths in the past seven days: 643 (variation in 14 days: +23%)
Total confirmed cases: 6,880,595
Record of confirmed cases in 24 hours: 44,282
Average of new cases in the past seven days: 43,414 per day (variation in 14 days: +25%)

Increasing (17 states + DF): PR, RS, SC, ES, MG, SP, DF, MS, MT, AC, AP, RR, TO, BA, PB, PE, PI and RN
Stable, i.e., the number of deaths neither dropped nor increased significantly (five states): RJ, PA, RO, AL and SE
Dropping (four states): GO, AM, CE and MA

This comparison takes into account the average number of deaths in the past seven days through the release of this balance compared to the average recorded two weeks ago.

It is worthy of note that there are states in which the low average number of deaths can lead to large percentage variations. The rolling average data are, in general, in decimal numbers and rounded to simplify the presentation of data.

The data on coronavirus cases and deaths in Brazil were collected following an unprecedented partnership between G1, O Globo, Extra, O Estado de S.Paulo, Folha de S.Paulo and UOL, which began to work together on June 8th to compile the required data in 26 states and the Federal District.
