Ecuador to Hire 12,000 Doctors Amid Pandemic

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Ecuador will hire more than 12,000 doctors and healthcare workers to strengthen its public health system in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, President Lenin Moreno said Thursday. December 4th.

Moreno announced the decision via Twitter after holding talks with healthcare professionals, representatives of the National Assembly, and Health Minister Juan Carlos Zevallos.

“Dialogue leads to responsible decisions,” the president tweeted.

Ecuador has so far registered 195,884 COVID-19 infections with 9,129 deaths, according to the Ministry of Public Health.
