“Planning must first define who will be given priority for vaccination because there may be a race. We will establish the priority and disclose, divulge this to the population so that they understand”, commented the vice-president.

Mourão argued that a “clear assessment” of who will be immunized first is required.

The vice-president also stressed that Brazil has overcome the “catastrophic” projections of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, which to a great extent have not been confirmed, in his opinion.

He stated that the existence of the National Health System (SUS) and the efforts of governments at all levels enabled actions to contain the pandemic.

Mourão also emphasized that the private productive sector “is coming back to life” and that this is due mainly to measures implemented by the Executive branch.

He said that, thanks to the government, the states are “swimming in resources” and that revenue has not declined as much as expected.
