The Civil Police will report on the operation in Maré later, but according to TV Globo, five people had been arrested by 8:30 AM. In addition to the officers, the operation relied on five armored vehicles and a helicopter. Part of Avenida Brasil, which runs opposite the favela complex, was closed so that police vehicles could park.
