Covid-19: Brazil Counts Cumulative 153,000 Deaths, 5.2 Million Cases (October 16th)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazil has reached 153,214 deaths caused by the novel coronavirus pandemic. In 24 hours, 754 deaths were recorded. The data are in the Ministry of Health’s daily update, released on Friday evening, October 16th.

On Thursday, the health authorities had recorded a cumulative 152,460 deaths from Covid-19. There are still 2,323 deaths under investigation.

The number of cumulative cases has reached 5,200,300. A further 30,914 positive diagnoses were registered. There are still 427,526 cases in follow up. According to the Ministry of Health, 4,619,560 people have already recovered from the disease.

Covid-19 in the states

The states with the highest number of deaths are São Paulo (37,870), Rio de Janeiro (19,654), Ceará (9,199), Pernambuco (8,469), and Minas Gerais (8,345).

The states with the fewest deaths are Acre (679), Roraima (680), Amapá (730), Tocantins (1,035), and Mato Grosso do Sul (1,478).
