Covid-19: Brazil Records 749 Deaths and 27,200 New Cases in 24 Hours (October 14th)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – With the added numbers, the country has reached 151,747 deaths during the novel coronavirus pandemic. There are still 2,388 deaths under investigation by health teams to determine if the diagnosis was Covid-19.

The number of confirmed cumulative cases reached 5,140,863. There are still 420,303 patients in follow-up. According to the Ministry of Health, another 4,568,813 patients have recovered from the disease.

With the added numbers, the country has reached 151,747 deaths caused by the novel coronavirus pandemic. On Tuesday, 150,998 deaths were recorded. There are still 2,388 deaths under investigation by health teams to determine if the diagnosis was Covid-19.

São Paulo State exceeds 37,500 deaths from Covid-19

With 6,031 new cases and 227 deaths recorded in 24 hours, the state of São Paulo totals 1,045,060 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus since the start of the pandemic, leading to a cumulative 37,541 deaths.

As a result, the state has remained within the Coronavirus Contingency Center’s projections, which had estimated between 1.10 and 1.15 million Covid-19 cases and between 38,000 and 39,000 deaths by Thursday, October 15th.

From the total of diagnosed cases, 933,347 people have already recovered from the disease, 114,652 of them after hospitalization.

There are 3,437 people hospitalized throughout the state in intensive care units (ICU), in addition to 4,389 people hospitalized in wards. The ICU bed occupancy rate stands at 42.2 percent in the state and 41.6 percent in Greater São Paulo.

Covid-19 in the states

After São Paulo, the states with the highest number of deaths are Rio de Janeiro (19,440), Ceará (9,178), Pernambuco (8,438), and Minas Gerais (8,171). The states with the lowest number of deaths are Roraima and Acre (676), Amapá (728), Tocantins (1,021), and Mato Grosso do Sul (1,464).
