Covid-19: Brazil Counts 126,600 Deaths and 4.1 Million Cases (September 6th)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Ministry of Health’s daily update showed new totals regarding the novel coronavirus pandemic in Brazil. The number of deaths by Covid-19 rose to 126,650. In the past 24 hours, 447 new deaths were recorded by Covid-19. On Saturday, the Ministry’s panel recorded 126,203 deaths. There are further 2,475 deaths under investigation.

According to the portfolio’s report, since the start of the pandemic, 4,137,521 people have been infected with the coronavirus. Between Saturday and Sunday, the Health Secretariats added 14,521 people diagnosed with the disease to the statistics. On Saturday, the pandemic data system included 4,123,00 cases since the health crisis began.

The total number of cases is lower on Sundays and Mondays due to challenges in data feeding by the Health Secretariat teams. On Tuesdays, the figure has typically been higher with the sending of data accumulated over the weekend.

Still according to the update, 693,644 people are in follow-up and 3,317,227 patients have already recovered.

The lethality (number of deaths within the infected group) has remained stable at 3.1 percent. Mortality (deaths per 100,000 population) remained at 60.3. The incidence (total cases per 100,000 population) rose to 1968,9.

States

The states with the highest number of deaths by Covid-19 are São Paulo (31,353), Rio de Janeiro (16,568), Ceará (8,565), Pernambuco (7,702), and Pará (6,249).

The states with fewest lives lost to date are Roraima (598), Acre (624), Amapá (672), Tocantins (748), and Mato Grosso do Sul (966).

In terms of number of cases, São Paulo also leads (855,722), followed by Bahia (271,225), Minas Gerais (234,804), Rio de Janeiro (232,818), and Ceará (222,372).

Minas Gerais is now ranked third among the states with the most cases, passing Rio de Janeiro, which had been in this position for months.

The states with the least infections are Acre (25,443), Amapá (44,770), Roraima (45,137), Mato Grosso do Sul (53,491), and Tocantins (55,513).
