Brazil Again Reports Over 50,000 New Covid-19 Cases in One Day (July 25th)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazil saw over 50,000 new Covid-19 cases recorded in 24 hours for the fourth consecutive day. According to the Ministry of Health’s (MS) report released yesterday, July 25th, 51,147 people were infected with the novel coronavirus in 24 hours.

On Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays, the daily recorded figure tends to be lower due to the challenge of feeding the databanks by the municipal and state secretariats. On Tuesdays, the case numbers are typically higher due to the weekend backlogs being updated.

Friday’s update reported 55,891 new cases recorded in 24 hours. On Thursday, the panel marked 59,962 new diagnoses added to the statistics and Wednesday saw the record since the start of the pandemic, 67,860 cases.

In total, Brazil has reached 2,394,513 infections notified since the pandemic emerged.

The number of new deaths by Covid-19 recorded in the last 24 hours was 211, totaling 86,449 deaths since the start of the pandemic. On Friday, the Ministry’s system recorded 85,238 cumulative deaths from Covid-19. There are still 3,691 deaths under investigation.

Still according to the Ministry of Health’s daily update, there are 690,584 patients in follow-up. The number of recovered patients reached 1,617,480, 67.5 percent of the total cases recorded in Brazil to date.

States

The states with the most deaths are São Paulo (21,517), Rio de Janeiro (12,808), Ceará (7,476), Pernambuco (6,299), and Pará (5,689).

The states with the fewest deaths from the coronavirus are Mato Grosso do Sul (292), Tocantins (340), Roraima (473), Acre (483), and Amapá (554).

The states with the highest number of confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic are São Paulo (479,481), Ceará (161,597), Rio de Janeiro (156,293), Pará (147,923), and Bahia (146,399).

The states with the lowest number of recorded infections are Acre (18,657), Tocantins (20,920), Mato Grosso do Sul (21,015), Roraima (29,394), and Amapá (35,162).
