At the time, the chief executive was unmasked, and even chatted without the protection with staff who were cleaning the gardens of the Presidency’s official residence.

The wearing of protective masks is recommended by health authorities to prevent the spread of Covid-19, a disease caused by the novel coronavirus.

Bolsonaro has been infected for 16 days, since testing positive on July 7th.

On Wednesday, July 22nd, the Planalto Palace reported that Bolsonaro was still infected with the novel coronavirus. It was the President’s third positive test. In total, Bolsonaro has been tested six times, the first three of which came back negative. Bolsonaro is 65 years old and is therefore part of the age group considered by experts to be the highest risk group for Covid-19.

The President has addressed his supporters on a daily basis; they wait for him by the Alvorada’s reflecting pool. Although Bolsonaro keeps his distance, supporters ultimately crowd closer to talk to him.
