Petrobras Exports 1.11 Million Tons of Fuel Oil, Breaking Monthly Record

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Petrobras exported 1.11 million tons of fuel oil in May, exceeding the preceding record by ten percent, which had been set in February this year. The volume was 231 percent higher compared to the same month in 2019.

In a statement, the state-owned company stressed the change in requirements for marine fuels effective since the start of 2020, which reduced the limit of sulfur content in fuel oil from 3.5 to 0.5 percent, which benefits the product offered by Petrobras.

The company points out that this record comes at a challenging time for the global economy, due to the covid-19 pandemic, and that the strategy of diversifying fuel oil export destinations has been working.
