Brazil Records 13,993 Deaths, 202,918 Confirmed Cases of Covid-19 (May 14th)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – On Thursday, May 14th, the Ministry of Health released the most recent balance of novel coronavirus cases in Brazil.

The main data are as follows:

  • 13,993 deaths; there were 13,149 on Wednesday, May 13th; a further 844 new deaths were recorded in 24 hours;
  • 202,918 confirmed cases, there were 188,974 on Wednesday; 13,944 cases were included in the past 24 hours;
  • São Paulo records 54,268 cases and 4,315 deaths.

According to the Ministry, there are 109,446 patients under follow-up (53.9 percent of the total) and 79,479 have recovered (39.2 percent).

In the first 14 days of May 8,092 deaths were announced. This total represents 57 percent of all deaths recorded over the 59 days that the Ministry of Health has been reporting the death balances.  The first death occurred on March 17th.
