Petition to Impeach President Bolsonaro Collects One Million Signatures

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – A motion calling for the impeachment of President Jair Bolsonaro (no party), drafted by members of the left-wing PSOL (Socialism and Liberty Party), was submitted on Tuesday, March 31st, to the Chamber of Deputies – together with one million signatures collected by means of a virtual petition.

The document is signed by federal deputies Fernanda Melchionna, Sâmia Bomfim, and David Miranda; the state deputy of Rio Grande do Sul, Luciana Genro, along with 200 other public figures, including the scriptwriter of “Tropa de Elite”, Bráulio Mantovani, and Youtuber Felipe Neto.

The support signatures were printed, and the deputies included a petition to attach them to the motion. The symbolic handover was scheduled for 4:30 PM and was broadcast live on the Internet.
