Covid-19 Brazil: 11 Deaths and 904 Confirmed Cases

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The number of deaths due to the Covid-19 rose from six to 11 between Thursday, March 19th, and yesterday, March 20th, as updated by the Ministry of Health. Of this total, nine were reported in São Paulo and two in Rio de Janeiro.

The confirmed cases of the disease increased from 621 to 904 between Thursday and yesterday. São Paulo has accumulated 396 cases, followed by Rio de Janeiro (109), the Federal District (87), Ceará (55), Rio Grande do Sul (37) and Minas Gerais (35).

In addition to these states, cases were mapped in Bahia (33), Paraná (32), Pernambuco (30), Santa Catarina (21), Goiás (15), Espírito Santo (13), Mato Grosso do Sul (nine), Acre (seven), Sergipe (six), Alagoas (five), Piauí and Amazonas (three), Pará (two) and Mato Grosso, Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, Amapá, Tocantins, Rondônia (one). Only Roraima does not present confirmed cases.

Yesterday the Ministry of Health did not hold the daily press conference it has been promoting for the past two weeks.

The government’s measures were announced in an interview at the Planalto Palace, with the presence of President Jair Bolsonaro, Health Minister Luiz Henrique Mandetta, and other government representatives.

During the meeting, Mandetta said that the health system could collapse in April as a result of the new coronavirus pandemic.
