Another peculiarity was the disclosure of the amounts collected from the sale of athletes. With Pablo Mari, for instance, Flamengo collected R$40 million from Arsenal and R$125 million with the negotiation of Reinier for Real Madrid. Both sales occurred at the start of the year.

A good part of that money was invested in the acquisition of players. Last year, Flamengo spent R$209 million on the arrival of eight players, all of them regulars. In 2020, the club invested R$62.1 million in six extra players. The amount does not include the purchase of Gabriel Barbosa, for €16.5 million.
